Biography
William Ernst Hentschel (1892-1962) was a well-known mid-twentieth century artist. “Billy” Hentschel was a designer for Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati. He resided at his Burlington home in the old Tandy log cabin with his wife, Alza (1911-1982) who was also an artist.
Both “Billy” and Alza are buried with their family in the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky.
The summary of his war service reads: "Field Hospital 145 112 Sanitary Train to Discharge Private, first class 4 June 1917. Meuse-Argonne; Ypres-Lys; Defensive Sector. American Expeditionary Forces 28 June 1918 to 24 March 1919. Honorable discharge 12 Apr 1919." -- 'Ohio Soldiers, Sailors and Marines...', page 7431
