Title
Floyd, John B.
Gender
Male
Biography
In 1850 John and his family was living in Trimble County, Ky. By 1860 they had relocated to Dallas County, Texas.
The 1870 census shows a 40-year-old "black" domestic servant named Adaline Floyd living in the household, along with three children: Ephraim (16), Luticia (8), and Eliza (7). Given that they were born in Kentucky before the Floyd family left, it is likely that Adaline and Ephraim were formerly enslaved by John Floyd, and were taken to Texas when the Floyd family moved. There are enslaved people in the census records with matching ages.
