Michael Rouse appears in the Boone County Censues of 1830 and 1840 as the head of his household. By the 1850 and 1860 censuses he is living in the household of a younger relative, possibly his son, William R. Rouse.
According to 'John Rouse of Virginia' (pages 25-26), Michael's wife Mary died in 1832. His second wife Lucinda died sometime before the 1850 census.
In 1847, Michael Rouse manumitted an enslaved man named Abraham and included a note of gratitude for his faithful service.
