Biography: According to a January 12, 1864 letter from Leonard Stephens to his brother William: Tom went to Covington to retrieve the body of Jerry, who had enlisted in the draft and was working in the Govt. stable, where he died while working and had already been buried. Tom brought Jerry's body back to the Stephens' farm to be buried.
