NOTE: Enlisted in the 117th, Co. at Lexington, 1864. Mustered out at Brownsville, TX; 10 Aug 1867. Service record states birthplace as Bourbon Co (residence at time of enlistment) Volunteer enlistment record lists Boone Co. as birthplace. Slaveholder filed compensation claim in 1866, stated he was owner from "prior to beginning of the late rebellion up to the time of enlistment" no mention of previous slaveholder. William B. Murphy of Walton had a male slave, age 9 (b. ca. 1841) on the 1850 U. S. Federal Census Slave Schedule in Boone County. Daniel's widow Sallie Murphy took pension in KY 18 Jan 1909
