Nathaniel Hawes was born in Vermont on November 12, 1800. He married Jemima Bradford on 5 Dec 1822. Nathaniel Hawes was known to have two enslaved in the 1830 Burlington, Boone County, Kentucky census. Nathaniel Hawes was known to have two enslaved in the 1840 Boone County, Kentucky census. He was appointed Postmaster on 24 Jun 1842. In 1850 Nathaniel E Hawes is living with his wife and family in Boone County, Kentucky. The 1860 census shows Nathaniel Hawes in Burlington, Boone, Kentucky. In the 1870 census Nathaniel Hawes was in Burlington, Boone, Kentucky. His occupation was merchant. Nathaniel Hawes died on Dec 9, 1888 and is buried in Old Burlington Cemetery in Burlington, Kentucky.
