Appears in 1850 census with parents, Absalom and Frances. In 1860, 1870, 1880 Legrand is shown living with wife and children in Burlington. In the 1900 census Legrand and Elizabeth Ann are still in Burlington but no children are listed. In 1910 Legrand and Elizabeth still reside in Burlington, son Robert and his family are living with them. The 1920 census Legrand is living with his son James. Legrand Gaines died December 7, 1922 and is buried in Bullittsburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
