This was the house of worship for African-Americans in Burlington. It was founded by former slaves in 1881. At the time of it's founding it was named the "Second Baptist Church of Burlington," due to there being a pre-existing church existing with the name "First Baptist Church of Burlington." Once this pre-existing church was dissolved, this remaining church modified it's name to the current form. The 1883 Atlas of Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties shows the “Col'd Baptist Church” on this site.
