Description

The county is located in southern Indiana on the Ohio River, bordering Kentucky. It is opposite the river from Louisville, Kentucky, and the county seat is Jeffersonville. It was named for General George Rogers Clark, whose regiment was rewarded with land by the state of Virginia. The land grant was located within the boundaries of what became Clark County.
