In traditional architecture in the county the wall surface was treated as a plane, but the Tolin house has fancy brick-work, including a mousetooth cornice that marks the second floor line, that gives depth to the wall surface. S. Walker Tolin was a state senator and a lawyer in Burlington. --National Register Nomination
