The J.M. Aylor House is a vernacular Gothic Revival residence of center-hall plan, built to one story. At the main entrance is a stickwork porch; the eaves bear fleur-de-lis bargeboards. Two historic outbuildings remain on the property: a frame gazebo and a caretaker’s house, which also features bargeboard trim. The Aylor family, of German ancestry, came to northern Boone County from Virginia in the early 19th century.
