Located on River Road in Constance, the house was built for the couple by Adam himself. Built circa 1901, the home remained in the family for six decades.

One of several Homestead Houses in the county, the Hempfling House is tall and compact in form, with forward-facing gable. Extending across the facade is a full-width, shed-roofed porch with center gable. Extending across the facade is a full-width, shed roofed porch with center gable, carried by chamfered posts and enclosed by a crossbuck-style wooden balustrade. Below the porch, a skirt of vertical wood siding, with notched edge, conceals the crawlspace.
