Description: In January 1856, John Price escaped from a slaveholder by the name of John G. Bacon of Tuckahoe Ridge (just opposite Rev. Rankin’s home in Ripley) In 1858 a slavehunter came after him. Two-hundred citizens assisted in his escape.
