Biography
Henry, his brother Moses, and their mother, Massey were enslaved by John Watts but bound to Thomas Tousey for a period of twenty years in 1817. The family was to be freed at the end of that term, per the will of John Watts.
Henry was married in 1845, a year after his brother, Moses. The brothers bought land together in Ripley County (Ind.) in 1844 and when their households were enumerated in the 1850 census, it appeared they were on neighboring properties.
