The Loder family moved first appear on the Boone county census in 1840. The father James Loder was born in New Jersey about 1798 and most of his children were born in Pennsylvania or Ohio. The Loder family in Boone County lived in the North Bend area, mostly Taylorsport and Francisville. In fact there is a Loder creek in the North Bend area. Three of the brothers, George, John and Lewis moved to Petersburg by 1860. Lewis Loder ran a hotel in Petersburg now know as the Loder House and he kept a day journal from 1857 to 1905 that mentions births, marriages and deaths of people in the town. The family also has ties to Indiana and Missouri.
