Biography: During the 1942-43 academic year, Lula Sleet was one of about sixty young women who trained in aircraft radio drafting at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After completing the intensive thirteen-week industrial drawing course, she was sent to work for the U.S. Army Signal Corps in their laboratory at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio.; After World War II ended, Lula continued working for Air Service Command as a typist. She lived with her older sister Estelle, who was a teacher.; Lula eventually married Frank James, who had served in the Army during the war.
