Biography
William was a graduate of Transylvania College in Lexington, Ky. He studied law, and passed the bar in 1821. He practiced in Lexington, and served as the prosecuting attorney from 1825-1827.
He was elected to the State house of representatives, serving terms in 1827, 1832, and 1836. He was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving one term--March 4, 1837 to March 3, 1839. Afterwards, he returned to his private law practice.
