Biography
Serving as a Confederate soldier, Ballard was captured at Cynthiana, Kentucky on June 12, 1964 and sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois and received August 1, 1964. Ballard was later transferred on February 24, 1865. In the remarks of the compiled military service records, Point Lookout, Maryland is listed. The remarks also list that Ballard claimed he was enlisted through false representation, was captured and desired to take the oath of allegiance to the United States and become a loyal citizen.
