Biography
-
"Martha was born in New York, the daughter of Isabella Selmes and Robert H. M. Ferguson. Much of her childhood was spent in the mountains of southwestern New Mexico. A very outgoing and well-traveled young lady, Martha married Charles Breasted, the son of Egyptologist James H. Breasted. The couple had four children. It was Martha who made the decision to turn the Dinsmore home over to the Dinsmore Homestead Foundation as a museum. Upon her death she chose to have her body cremated and have the ashes buried with Julia Farley Loving, who took care of her when she was young." --Cathy Callopy
