In the 1830 inventory of the estate of Valentine Barton, Prince was given a value of $175. Listed as a "boy", he was almost certainly one of the males under 10 years old recorded in the 1830 census. When the enslaved people were divided among the heirs in 1832, his value was listed as $200.
