Biography
-
Virginia Vawter is the daughter of Lt. William Vawter, who served in the U.S. Revolutionary War. She appears to be living in Boone County (Ky.) in the early 1800s. Military records regarding inheritance of land grants following her father's military service place her there in the 1820s. In 1839 a woman named Aggie, who was enslaved by her, is emancipated and given property in Burlington, in accordance with her wishes expressed in her 1839 will.
