The county is located in the southeastern corner of Indiana, along the Ohio River. It is part of the tri-state area, bordering both Ohio and Kentucky. The county seat is Lawrenceburg. The county was named for General Henry Dearborn who was U.S. Secretary of War at the time the county was established.
