Description: Located in northern Kentucky along the Ohio River and the boundary with Indiana, the county is about 30 miles north-northwest of Frankfort, and the county seat is Carrollton. The county was named for Charles Carroll (1737-1832) of Carrollton, Maryland, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
