Constructed in the early 19th Century, the John Dempsey House is situated in the Mud Lick Valley on Risner Road. The house enjoys a secluded rural setting with a branch of the creek meandering through the property. It is a substantial two-story log dwelling on the hall-parlor plan, with stout logs joined by half-dovetail notching. A massive, stucco-clad stone chimney adjoins the north elevation. The two-story front porch is a recent addition.
