Description: It is reported that the slaveholders P. Wherritt, G. Remington, Benson Roberts, W. G. Hedges, John Righter suffered a mass escape of over forty enslaved persons who were armed and aided by abolitionists. One white man was killed in attempting to capture these freedom seekers. A mob gathered in Bracken County (Ky.).
