Became Member of Bullittsburg Baptist Church in 1811. Was excluded in July 1812. Additionally, in June 1806, a deed document states that Patience and her future increase be "divided between Cyrus and Sarah"(the children of Benjamin Craig, to be held in trust by Urial Sebree until they are of age).

Received as a member of Sand Run Baptist church on March 20, 1819, excluded June 1829. Father of Rachel (Brockman) Bishop. Was accused of adultery for marrying and living with Kizza, while a married man. May be same Adam as the bondsman of George Gibson.

1818--Matt Bates Excluded Due to Underground Railroad Involvement
From the 1823 will of William Bates, "my yellow man Matt, about thirty two years of age" was granted his freedom upon the death of William Bates. Went on to assist in Underground Railroad activity in North Bend. Was a member of Bullittsburg Baptist Church from 1818. Eventually excluded from the church.
