Morgan Academy (Burlington, Ky.) Established in 1814, the Boone Academy (as it was originally known) was one of the most important institutions in Burlington. It was originally funded by the sale of seminary lands that had been set aside by the state of Kentucky after it joined the Union.

Walton Graded School (Walton, Ky.) The school, which included twelve grades under one roof, opened on North Main Street in 1902 following the creation of the Walton Independent School District. The high school was the first public secondary school in the county.
