Biography: Massey and her sons were enslaved by John Watts but bound to Thomas Tousey for a period of twenty years in 1817. The family was to be freed at the end of that term, per the will of John Watts. Her sons, who carried the surname "Green" after becoming free, are found first in 1844 land records in Ripley County, where they settled with their families. No trace of Massey living as a Free woman has been located.
