Edwin Gaines was born 16 Jan 1821 in Kentucky. The 1850 census shows Edwin Gaines living in District 1, Boone, Kentucky with his wife, Ann and three children. The 1860 and 1870 census for Petersburg, Boone, Kentucky shows Edwin still living with his family. His occupation is listed as farmer. In 1880 Edwin is again living in Petersburg, Boone, Kentucky. He stated both of his parents were born in Virginia. By 1900 Edwin is listed as widowed in the census records. He was living in Bullittsville, Boone, Kentucky with his son, Charles. Edwin died April 3, 1904 and is buried in Bullittsburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
