Biography
In 1820, George H Berry is in Burlington, Boone County, Kentucky with two free white persons in the household. The 1830 Boone County, Kentucky census shows G. H. Berry with two free whites and one enslaved in the household. George H Berry is living in Boone County, Kentucky in 1840 with two free whites and three free colored persons in his household.

In 1836 George Berry emancipates Rebecca Hughes. In 1839 he submits a legal deed that her son (George Thomas Hughes), born after her own emancipation, is legally recognized as free. Rebecca is known to have been married to a man named Thomas Hughes. It is possible that the family of three remained with George Berry for a period. They remain in Boone County for at least a decade later.
