Historic Status: Burned 11/05

Floor Plan: Center Passage Single
-
A classic I-house, the James Blackburn House is one of the finest in the county. The house was constructed circa 1850-60 and exhibits a five-bay front, tin roof and interior gable-end chimneys. The main entrance is framed by a rectangular transom and sidelights, and the windows contain 6/6 sash. At the rear is an original gabled ell.
-
The front porch was salvaged from a farmhouse that was razed to build the Florence Mall. Several similar dwellings–centerpieces of prosperous farms–were built along the Covington-Lexington Turnpike (now the Dixie Highway) in the mid-19th century.
