George was promoted to Corporal on November 4, 1864.
He was living in Denver, Colorado when he filed for his soldier's pension on April 20, 1892.
Due to cataracts in both eyes, George was admitted to the Western Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Leavenworth, Kansas on September 16, 1910.
His enlistment papers listed his occupation as "farmer." His soldiers' home admission paperwork listed his profession as "laborer." It also stated he was 5-feet 9-inches in height, a widower, a Protestant, and literate.
