Description: Ben, the slave of Mary Kirtley was incarcerated in the jailhouse. Jeremiah Kirtley came before the court insisting on seeing Ben. “It is ordered that a Writ of Habeus Corpus issue to said Jailor commanding him forthwith to produce the body of said negro Ben before the Court.” Ben was brought in and released.
