Description: December 30th: The trial of Ralf and Ned for a felony charge. They were enslaved by William Carter and Jeremiah Kirtley, respectively. They were charged with murdering James, who was enslaved by John Jones, on Dec 22nd. Both claimed innocence but Ralf was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to be hanged on February 5th, 1806, while Ned was found guilty of the charge of manslaughter and sentenced to be "Burnt on the hand in open court immediately" and to have 25 lashes on his bare back by the jailer.
