Biography

Peter was enslaved by William Acra in Orange County, Virginia. Acra allotted Peter to his son, Reuben in his will, which was proven in 1819. His appraised value was $350 and when compared to another enslaved man it's likely Reuben was between 10 & 15 years old at the time. Reuben Acra moved to Boone County sometime before 1830 with family members and brought with him one enslaved person over 16. Reuben is shown as he enslaver of one person over the age of 16 between 1832-1849 in Boone County tax lists. It's likely that the person he was taxed for was Peter.
