Description
On September 13, 1832, James Benham, of Boone County, executed a deed of mortgage to Jeremiah Garnett for the sum of $700. The sum was based on the combined value of an enslaved man, Foster, a woman, Becky or Beck and her twochildren, Henry and Dolly. The terms of the mortgage were that Benham would repay Garnett in full on or before 1 Jan 1833.
No nullification of the agreement was recorded; it's likely the four enslaved people remained with Garnett as agreed.
