Description
-
On April 14, 1806, Ben escaped from his Boone County enslaver, Thomas West. His description revealed a hard life: he had a scar on his lip, evidence of an earlier knife-wound on his neck and a previously broken arm that was still visibly affected.
West offered a $25 reward for his return.
