Description
In a deed of sale found within documents submitted to the Bourbon County Circuit Court in the 1803 case Hurst V. Mahan, Suckey was sold by William Jameson to Thomas Mahan. Neither party's home county was named. Within the terms of the sale, a girl named "Succa," 15 years old, was sold by Jameson to Mahan for the sum of 50 pounds sterling.
This document was submitted to the court to establish Mahan's claim to Suckey, who was also claimed by John Hurst, who submitted his own bill of sale.
Thomas Mahan was the nephew of Joseph Hawkins, Sr., who had sold Suckey to William Jameson in 1800. The Jameson family is also intermarried with the Hawkins family.
