Biography

Thomas Jones was among a group of six people jailed as runaways in Breckinridge County in 1862. Thomas' wife, Eliza and daughter, Sarah were with him at the time. The Jones family claimed to be free people from Cincinnati who had been hired as "waiters" by Col. Bruce, but that they had been left by him with Quartermaster Frank Fee. When they were captured, they were with Fee's brother. Thomas was about 40 yrs old and presumed to be a "fugitive."
