Description
-
Three men and three women were committed to jail in Hardinsburg as "runaways" on September 22, 1862. Four of those captured claimed to be free people from Cincinnati, the other two had passes from General Negley, dated Sept 15th in Nashville. The group was captured in Cloverport from the wagon of "Mr. Fee" brother of Quartermaster Frank Fee. The jailor of Breckinridge County continued to hold all of the freedom seekers, until someone could come forward to prove they were free or enslaved.
