Biography: Add White was enslaved by Daniel G. White in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. He fled enslavement sometime before August 21, 1856, via the Underground Railroad. Around August 21, while going through Ohio, Add White was hidden by four men in Mechanicsburg, east of Urbana. These men included Russel Hyde, Hiram Guttridge, and two brothers, Charles and Edward Taylor. The four would be arrested for aiding Add in June of the following year. Theirs and Add’s ultimate fates are unknown.
