Woodford County enslaver Benjamin Berry placed an ad in September 1812, offering a reward of $30 for the return of 23-yr-old Charlotte and her three children: a 7-yr-old son, Hemmon, a 3-yr-old daughter, Jenny and an 8-month-old daughter, Thursay. Berry claimed the family had been "stolen" from his property near Versailles on August 15.
