Description
Slave Holding
General Wallace Garrison (1840-1920) was named after either his grandfather or uncle, who was referred to as “General Wallace”. Wallace Garrison was born to Elzie/Elzy Garrison (1806-1894)and Mary/Polly Wallace (1802-1876) and married Sarah L. Violett from Gallatin County in 1878. Wallace Garrison inherited the family homestead near Big Bone Baptist Church after his father's death in 1894.
The Garrison Creek is located in northern Boone County, near Bullittsburg Baptist Church and is presumably named after some portion of the family. The area around the creek boasted a little town and a school at one time.
