Appears on a roster of the 8th Regiment of Kentucky Volunteers, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, Forrest’s Cavalry Corps, Army of Mississippi; organized Nov. 1 1861; mustered into Confederate service Nov. 1 1861.
In a letter written by Major General Edward F. Witsell to Mrs. Vincent Reuscher of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky he states, “Appointed Major, Acting Adjutant General, Confederate States Army, from the State of Kentucky, 15 Oct 1862 and reported to General Breckenridge. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, Adjutant General’s Department 1865.”
