"Union Prisoner of War records show that he was captured July 29, 1862, at Mount Sterling, Kentucky and imprisoned at Louisville, Kentucky; Camp Morton, Indiana and Johnson’s Island, Ohio. He was delivered to the confederate Agent near Vicksburg, for exchange, December 8 1862. Subsequently he became a Private of Jessee’s Battalion Kentucky Mounted Riflemen, Confederate States Army, which, by order dated September 29, 1865, became Company “b”, 6 Battalion Confederate Cavalry. No record later than March 22, 1864, has been found, no company rolls later than that date being on file.” – Brigadier General, Acting the Adjutant General dated - 11 Jun 1935
