Description
Organized at Covington (Ky.), July 18 to September 27, 1864. Attached to Military District of Kentucky, Dept. of the Ohio, to October, 1864. Provisional Brigade, 18th Corps, Army of the James, to December, 1864. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 25th Corps and Dept. of Texas, to August, 1867.
Duty at Camp Nelson (Ky.), till October, 1864. Ordered to Baltimore (Md.), thence to City Point (Va.), October 21. Siege operations against Petersburg and Richmond till March, 1865. Appomattox Campaign March 28-April 9. Hatcher's Run March 29-31. Fall of Petersburg April 2. Pursuit of Lee April 3-9. Appomattox Court House April 9. Surrender of Lee and his army. Duty at Petersburg and City Point till June. Moved to Brazos Santiago (Tex.), June and July. Duty at Brownsville (Tex.) and on the Rio Grande, Texas, till August, 1867.
