Located in the northeast corner of the state, the parish is bordered by the Mississippi River, and was named for President James Madison. The parish seat is Tallulah.

Located at the end of the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, the county was founded by George Washington's brother Charles, and named for Thomas Jefferson. The county seat is Charles Town.

Berkeley County (W. Va.)
Located in the Shenandoah Valley in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, the county is believed to have been named for Baron Norborne Berkeley, who served as a Colonial Governor of Virginia. The county seat is Martinsburg.
