Grant County (Ind.)
The county is located in north central Indiana, midway between Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, and the county seat is Marion. It was named for Captains Samuel and Moses Grant of Kentucky, who were killed while fighting indigenous people in the nearby area.

Franklin County (Ind.)
The county is located in southeastern Indiana, along the border with Ohio, across from northern Cincinnati. The county seat is Brookville. The county was named for Benjamin Franklin.

Fayette County (Ind.)
The county is located east of Indianapolis, closer to Ohio, and the county seat is Connersville. It was named for the Marquis de la Fayette, or as he's better known in the U.S., General Lafayette, French hero of the Revolutionary War.

Dearborn County (Ind.)
The county is located in the southeastern corner of Indiana, along the Ohio River. It is part of the tri-state area, bordering both Ohio and Kentucky. The county seat is Lawrenceburg. The county was named for General Henry Dearborn who was U.S. Secretary of War at the time the county was established.

Clark County (Ind.)
The county is located in southern Indiana on the Ohio River, bordering Kentucky. It is opposite the river from Louisville, Kentucky, and the county seat is Jeffersonville. It was named for General George Rogers Clark, whose regiment was rewarded with land by the state of Virginia. The land grant was located within the boundaries of what became Clark County.
