Aaron Clore had two sons with his wife, Rosannah Crisler. He had ten children with his enslaved mistress, Eliza. Nine of these are likely to be the children listed as "mulatto" in the 1850 census slave schedule.

Absalom was listed in the will of his father-in-law, Charles Morgan. According to the will he was in debt to Charles, owing him sixty pounds for a "negro wench." Other enslaved people were also mentioned and dispersed in the document, which was dated 3 Feb 1782 and filed in Culpeper County, Va.

By 1800, the family had moved to Bourbon County, Ky. In 1820, they were living in North Middletown in Bourbon County. In addition to the eighteen enslaved people, there were two free persons of color living in the household--both male and under 14 years of age.
